Microsoft Xbox teams up with ASUS ROG to make a grand appearance at the Gamescom 2025: The global debut of the Xbox Ally (X) handheld console for public playtesting begins!

At the upcoming Gamescom 2025, Microsoft Xbox and ASUS ROG (Republic of Gamers) announced the joint launch of a new gaming handheld, Xbox Ally (X), and it will be available for public playtesting during the event. This collaboration marks the official entry of the Xbox ecosystem into the high-performance handheld gaming market, offering players a more portable next-generation gaming experience.

Xbox Ally (X): The Perfect Blend of Performance and Portability
As the first product of a deep collaboration between Xbox and ASUS ROG, Xbox Ally (X) combines Xbox’s powerful game library with ROG’s leading hardware design technology, focusing on high performance, high frame rates, and cross-platform compatibility. It is reported that the device will be equipped with a customized AMD processor, support Xbox Game Pass cloud gaming and local operation, and optimize the handheld operation experience of the Windows system. Players can enjoy first-party Xbox blockbusters such as Halo, Forza Motorsport, and Starfield anytime and anywhere.

First Playable at Gamescom, Igniting Player Anticipation
During the 2025 Gamescom from August 20th to 24th, Microsoft and ASUS will set up a dedicated experience area in the Xbox booth (Hall 6, B021) to offer hands-on play of Xbox Ally (X). Some unreleased games may also be showcased. Additionally, the official will reveal the detailed specifications, price, and release date of the device, further satisfying player expectations.

It can now be confirmed that the ROG Xbox Ally / Ally X handhelds will also open for pre-order on August 20th. The suggested retail price in Europe is in line with previous leaks at 599 euros / 899 euros.
