With thousands of visitors are expected at the 18th edition of La Guilde du jeu vidéo du Québec’s MEGAMIGS, where the Indie Zone presented by Ubisoft showcased the creativity, talent and achievements of 10 independent studios from Quebec and beyond and their flagship games:

SEASHELL STUDIO (Querétaro) – Running Fable

SLEEPY CASTLE STUDIO (Montreal) – Flynt Buckler Wakes the Sleepy Castle

THE GLOWING POND (Montreal) – Secret Meadow

VIDVAD GAMES (Quebec) – The Tale of the Extended Warranty

WATCHA GAMES (Montreal) – Sea Raiders

WORLDSHIFTER GAMES (Washington) – Content Reviewer

Each studio has fewer than 20 people and some are even solo operations. A number offered exclusive content while others will unveil their first games. A special presentation highlighting all Indie Zone gamestook place on the Discovery Stage, followed by a gaming session and short interviews with the developers.

This is the area for about 60 exhibitors, most of which were game development studios. The event will also feature an Education Zone, where seven post-secondary schools and academic institutions (colleges and universities) presented their gaming programs and multiple career paths in this industry.

As an added bonus, the event will also feature personalities from the gaming world and other fields such as:

Phil Branch

Phil has always been a videogame buff. He enjoys both collecting consoles and exploring new games. As the MEGAMIGS spokesperson for the past three years, Phil will be posting on social media with studio tours, interviews, game showcases and contests between now and the event, and he hosted the MEGAMIGS Awards starting at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 22.

AndyTheFrenchy

Singer, pianist, flutist and feisty singer-songwriter Andy St-Louis joined the public program on October 21 at 3:00 p.m. before giving a live musical performance at 5:00 p.m. Come and bop to your favourite video game tune!

Valérie Lévesque

Streamer and web content creator since 2015, Valérie loves video games, Japanese anime, mangas, alternative fashion, geek pop culture, and new technologies. Shewas at the event to meet up with her peeps and host a panel on her atypical journey as a female gamer on October 21 .

SteelHorse

This YouTuber is best known for his gaming videos and authenticity. He also uses his vlog to show his meet-ups with interesting people who share their passions. He talked with representatives from 10 independent studios for 90 minutes.

LanaLux

This independent game developer has a channel on Twitch, where she livestreams daily about her process to develop and create her own games.

Finally, the MEGA Party presented by Red Barrels to close MEGAMIGS from La Guilde du jeu vidéo du Québec took place October 22. Halloween-inspired food and drinks will be part of the “frightening” atmosphere and activities!
