‘Puss In Boots’ Debut Tops U.K. Box Office Approaches $400M Globally

Universal/Dreamworks’ Puss in Boots: The Last Wish pulled off another strong weekend at the box office raking in an estimated $8 million domestically, good for fourth place.
Worldwide, The Last Wish also finished fourth adding $17.1 million from 80 international markets. The film has now reached $217.3 million internationally and $368.6 million worldwide, and it looks like a lock to cross the $400 million global box office milestone.
It ends the seven-week reign of Disney blockbuster “Avatar: The Way of Water” at the U.K. and Ireland box office. In its eighth weekend, “Avatar: The Way of Water” collected £1.2 million and now has a mighty total of £72.7 million.
The plot is basic: down to his final life, Puss sees an opportunity to restore the full nine with a magic wishing star. He’s not the only one seeking it: Goldilocks and her ursine crime syndicate are on his trail, as is the monstrous “Big” Jack Horner. And then there’s Kitty Softpaws (Salma Hayek) and wannabe emotional support animal Perrito the chihuahua (Harvey Guillén). It helps that the writing is as sharp as Puss’s claws.
It’s nominated the Best Animated Feature Film of The 95th Academy Awards, USA and the Best Animated Feature Film of The 80th Golden Globe Awards (2023)
