Nintendo Confirms eShop Payments in Russia Currently Suspended

Unlike Nintendo Eurogamer has confirmed that the Russian Nintendo eShop is “temporarily in maintenance mode”. No response from Nintendo to the situation in Ukraine, but a problem with the payment service provider that stopped processing payments in rubles.
First of all, a small service update on the Russian was noticeable Nintendo website† The short statement, translated by DeepL, reads as follows: “Due to the fact that the payment service used by Nintendo eShop has stopped processing payments in rubles, Nintendo eShop in Russia has temporarily entered maintenance mode.”
We apologize for the inconvenience and want to keep Nintendo fans updated as the situation evolves. Obviously this is not due to Nintendo’s actions, but due to the third party.
This week, Ukraine called on “all developer companies and eSports platforms” to take concrete action against the Russian invasion of Ukraine. While several major publishers have positioned themselves in the Ukraine crisis, Nintendo has not yet made a statement.
