Eggy Party announces over 100 Million User-Generated Maps at GDC 2024

Eggy Party has hit a staggering milestone, with over 100 million maps created by fans since launch

NetEase Games, the online games division of NetEase, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTES, HKEX: 9999), revealed during GDC 2024 that Eggy Party, the multiplayer mobile party game, has reached over 100 million user-generated maps.

Eggy Party is a frantic multiplayer game for Android and iOS devices, where adorable Eggies take part in highly competitive minigames, with the last Eggy standing as the victor. Eggy Party also strongly focuses on the creative experience, with players able to craft their own maps and share them with others online.

Following an early access period in 2023, Eggy Party officially launched in 2024, with over 40 million daily active users in China (as of February 9, 2024), with over 100 million monthly active users and user-generated playground maps and 500 million users (accumulated since December 8, 2023).

After becoming a massive hit in China, Eggy Party launched in Southeast Asia, where it has been a success on the Google Play free charts in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. Notably, Eggy Party held the top spot on Indonesia’s free charts for a month, the first NetEase title to have that impressive achievement in the region.

Eggy Party has been a massive hit with fans, and it was nominated for the Google Play Best of 2023 in Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. Our active engagement with players in Southeast Asia through offline events in Bangkok, Jakarta, and Kuala Lumpur helped cement the game’s competitive reputation among gamers in the region.

During a special presentation at the GDC 2024 conference titled “Keep It Simple, Make It Fun – Creative Thinking With User-generated Content,” speakers Kwan Cheng (Eggy Party Producer and General Manager of Eggy Studio) and Tony Liu (Eggy Party Brand Marketing North America), discussed how the game attracted a vast audience through its user-generated content, with over 100 million maps made to date.

In their presentation, Cheng and Liu discussed Eggy Party’s emphasis on user-generated content, thanks to how user-friendly the game’s creative editor is. The “Egg Code” and the AIGC tools make creating Eggy Party content as simple and easy to understand as possible. This is helped by various algorithmic recommendations tuned to the player’s preferences, making it easier for them to work with styles they already enjoy.

A staggering 60% of Eggy Party players engage with the content creation options, helped by the game’s creator incentive program, where players are rewarded for their contributions and given a chance to show off their material to the world.

“With more than 100M high-quality UGC maps in Eggy Party, global players have been very active to immerse themselves in the infinite possibilities of the Eggyverse,” Said Matt Liu, Head of NetEase Games Overseas Publishing. “We appreciate our fans’ amazing work and enthusiasm, and we are eager to welcome more players to join us on Eggy Party’s fantastic journey!”

Eggy Party has had an incredible launch. Players are currently enjoying the sci-fi spectacle of the Moonglow Fest event, which has brought new modes and interstellar costumes to the game.

There’s more to come for Eggy Party in the future, with more user-generated content support in the works, including dedicated creation tutorials, periodic community creation events, and a quality creator incentive program. The Mysteries Galore season has also been revealed, with a new crossover in the works.
