Important technical specifications: During submission, entrants must supply playable preview links (YouTube / Vimeo / Dropbox). Passwordprotected links must allow filedownload and shall remain active at least until April 10 2027. Films selected for official screening need to deliver exhibition masters in ProRes 422 (HQ) 1080p or highquality H.264 plus official film poster materials. FFAA does not provide subtitle production. III. Target Participant Groups
FFAA 2027 is a hybrid platform serving professional creative studios, academic communities, B2B industry stakeholders and general animationloving audiences. Four core participant cohorts are addressed:
1. Animation Creators & Production Entities (Primary submitting group)
Independent animation directors, screenwriters and individual creators; Commercial animation studios, production houses and coproduction teams; Rightsholders, production companies and animation commissioners.
Eligible works include animated features, short films, web series, educational animation, animated music videos and commissioned commercial animation. Projectsindevelopment without finished cuts are welcome for the dedicated Pitch Project track; only project concepts and pitch materials are required instead of a completed film.
2. Academic & Student Community
Enrolled animation students and recent graduates worldwide; graduation animation shorts qualify for the Student Animated Short Film competition category with discounted submission fees. Animation faculty and university animation departments, supporting group student submissions.
3. B2B Industry Professionals (Onsite festival attendees)
Animation distributors, TV networks and streamingplatform acquisition executives; Animation investors, culturalcreative funds and venturecapital representatives focusing on the Pitch Project pipeline; International coproduction delegates, festival curators, animationindustry media and animationindustry associations; Animation trainers and freelance animation practitioners for panels, masterclasses and networking.
4. General Public & Animation Enthusiasts (Audience for public screenings)
Local African audiences and international festival visitors, especially familyoriented viewers. FFAA runs multiple publicaccess screening programmes for familyfriendly and childrenfocused animation. This distinguishes FFAA from purely closeddoor industry markets.
Note: FFAA implements no geographic barriers. Creators from Africa, Francophone territories and all other global regions may submit to most competition categories on equal footing. Best African Animation Film and Best Francophone Animated Short Film are dedicated special awards, while all other categories are fully open to worldwide applicants.
