BALTIC STAND AT MIFA 2022

Latvian Animation Association is getting ready for MIFA 2022, the most important international animation film market, which is taking place during Annecy International Animation Film Festival.

Meet us there from 14 – 17 June together with our neighbors Estonia and Lithuania at the BALTIC STAND to get to know each other and have the first look at the Latvian Animation Catalogue 2022.

We are very happy to share that two Latvian films have been selected for Annecy Festival:

My Love Affair with Marriage by Signe Baumane (Locomotive Productions, The Marriage Project, Llc, Antevita Films) is part of Feature Films in Competition Official.

From an early age, songs and fairytales convinced Zelma that Love would solve all her problems as long as she abided by societal expectations of how a girl should act. But as she grew older something didn’t seem right with the concept of love: the more she tried to conform, the more her body resisted. A story about the acceptance of the inner female rebellion.

Čuči čuči by Māra Liniņa (Atom Art) is selected for Young Audiences Short Films in Competition.

Inspired by the most popular Latvian folksong – a lullaby about a family of bears.

Latvian animation will be represented by producer Sabīne Andersone, director Signe Baumane, director Māra Liniņa and director Edmunds Jansons, as well as National Film Centre international film festival coordinator Agnese Zapāne, Head of the Board of Latvian Animation Association – Anna Zača and project coordinator Lauma Kaudzīte. See you there!

While we are preparing for MIFA, we invite you to have a look at the latest lecture on visual storytelling by our talented artist Edmunds Jansons.
