Global Screen Fund Update,New Awards to Animation Companies
The BFI and DCMS have announced a further investment of £2.1 million in UK companies in latest awards from UK Global Screen Fund. Of the 25 companies awarded grants to increase their reach to international audiences, four were animation companies receiving some of the largest awards. Congratulations to Cantilever Group, Dog Ears Limited and Alphablocks Limited, with a further animation company award to be announced in the New Year.
These awards follow the announcement last week of a further nine co-productions and in its pilot year including a Halloween special called The Ghastly Ghoul, co-produced by Lupus Films in partnership with Dream Logic Animation Studios
The UK Global Screen Fund is also driving a new international promotional campaign for UK screen content. UKscreen talent and is being rolled out internationally through a digital campaign to distinguish and promote UK content to global audiences. The new ScreenUK website can select feature Locksmith Animations first feature, Ron’s Gone Wrong and Aardman’s Robin Robin.
As active members of the Advisory Group, Animation UK were delighted that the government has confirmed it will commit £42 million to support the creative industries over the next three years, including a multiyear settlement for the UK Global Screen Fund.
