“PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie” Set for August Release, Puppy Heroes Embark on Prehistoric Adventure

The highly anticipated third animated feature film in the PAW Patrol series, “PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie,” has officially been scheduled for release, hitting North American theaters on August 14, 2026. This collaboration between Paramount Pictures, Spin Master Entertainment, and Nickelodeon Movies will transport the beloved puppy heroes into an unknown world of dinosaurs.

Schedule Adjustment: Shifting to Mid-August to Avoid Summer Blockbusters

According to a report by Deadline, the film was originally slated for release on July 24, 2026, but has now been moved to August 14. This strategic shift allows the PAW Patrol to avoid direct competition with Sony/Marvel’s “Spider-Man: Freshman Year” (July 31) and Universal/Illumination’s “Minions 3” (July 1). The summer 2026 animation market is highly competitive, with Disney/Pixar’s “Toy Story 5” also set to open on June 19. In its new slot, “PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie” is expected to have more breathing room to achieve strong box office results.

Story Preview: Mysterious Dino Island, New Ally Joins

In this installment, Chase, Skye, Marshall, Rubble, Rocky, Zuma, along with Everest, Liberty, and Ryder, encounter a mysterious storm during a voyage and become stranded on a secluded, prehistoric Dino Island. In this primeval paradise, they befriend a new puppy named Rex, who knows everything about the dinosaurs inhabiting the island.

However, the adventure quickly becomes perilous. The PAW Patrol’s arch-nemesis, Mayor Humdinger, arrives on the island, recklessly mining for resources and inadvertently triggering a volcanic eruption. Facing an unprecedented disaster, the team must undertake their biggest rescue mission yet, stopping Humdinger and saving the island’s dinosaurs before everything is destroyed.

Award-Winning Team Returns, Star-Studded Voice Cast

The film is once again directed by Cal Brunker, who co-writes with Bob Barlen. Both previously directed and wrote the first two PAW Patrol films, ensuring continuity for the franchise.

The voice cast is packed with stars. Returning cast members reprise their roles, joined by an impressive roster of newcomers: Emmy nominee Mckenna Grace (as Skye), EGOT winner Jennifer Hudson, renowned comedian Fortune Feimster, as well as Jameela Jamil, Terry Crews, Snoop Dogg, Paris Hilton, and Bill Nye.

Continuing the Franchise’s Success, Aiming to Surpass Previous Films

The first two PAW Patrol theatrical films have grossed over $350 million combined worldwide. The 2023 release, “PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie,” earned $205.1 million globally, setting a new high for the franchise. As a major project celebrating the 10th anniversary of the PAW Patrol brand, “PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie” combines elements kids love—dinosaurs, adventure, and rescue missions—poised to generate another wave of excitement.

Laura Clunie, Jennifer Dodge, and Toni Stevens serve as producers, with Ronnen Harary and franchise creator Keith Chapman as executive producers. The PAW Patrol television series, which premiered on Nickelodeon in the U.S. in 2013, has become a global phenomenon and one of the most popular preschool animation brands worldwide.
