‘Memoir of A Snail’ to Open Anima Festival 2025

Oscar-awarded Adam Elliot (for the 2003 ‘Harvey Krumpet’) will celebrate the Belgian premiere of his second stop-motion animation feature ‘Memoir of a Snail’ at the Anima Festival (28 February – 9 March 2025).
The Australian animator made himself indispensable to the indie arthouse audience (and beyond) with his critically acclaimed 2009 ‘Mary & Max’, a touching story of an epistolary friendship between an 8-year-old Australian girl and a 44-year-old New Yorker.
He now has a second stop-motion feature animation. ‘Memoir of a Snail’ (winner of the 2024 Annecy Cristal for Best Feature Film), he tells the story of Grace Pudel, a snail collector with a passion for reading. Grace sees her life turned upside down when she is separated from her twin brother, Gilbert. Yet she finds hope through Pinky, an eccentric octogenarian who helps her come out of her shell.

Anima Festival will run from 28 February to 9 March 2025 at Flagey, Marni and Cinematek as well as in a dozen towns across Wallonia and Flanders. It will also offer a selection of films online on Sooner.
