Italy Audio Producer Submit

The future scenarios of the international audiovisual industry were outlined during the 2nd Edition of the Audiovisual Producers Summit, last July in Trieste.
In conversation w/ Roberto Stabile
Roberto Stabile, responsible for special projects for the DGCA of the Ministry of Culture (MiC) at Cinecittà, he is also the event’s creator and director. He revealed the highlights of the event in Trieste.
The Summit, indeed, serves as a high-level think tank, offering the environment to meet calmly and without distractions for three days to discuss the present and imagine the future of the global audiovisual industry.
Some of the major players in the Italian and US television industry attended the event in Trieste, along with a significant part of the French industry.
The work on internationalization recently enhanced — with the Italian Screens, Film Distribution Fund, and Minority Co-Production Fund as flagship initiatives— is bearing fruit, «consolidating our presence in ‘mature’ territories and allowing us to venture into new and unexplored territories,» declares Stabile, who adds: «the event in Trieste confirmed Italy as an indispensable bridge between Europe and the US.»
This was possible thanks to the organization by Cinecittà for the DGCA of the Ministry of Culture (MiC), in association with APA Audiovisual Producers Association, with the support of the MiC, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), Italian Trade Agency (ICE), Friuli Venezia Giulia Region with the support of Promo Turismo FVG and FVG Film Commission, and with the essential partnership of the Motion Picture Association and Producers Guild of America, and with the French organizations CNC (National Center for Cinema and the Moving Image) and Unifrance.
Representatives from some of the most prestigious production companies, distribution companies, television networks, digital platforms, and majors took turns on the stage during the event. Among these are Tony Vinciguerra, President and CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment, and Tarak Ben Ammar, entrepreneur, film producer, and CEO of Eagle Pictures.
Their conversation summarized the essence of the three-day event: how the role of the producer changes in the age of digital platforms, what are the new opportunities that independents can seize, how to use co-productions as internationalization accelerators, what is the value of production for the territory and crews.
The Audiovisual Producers Summit revealed an Italian audiovisual landscape that is not only the “most beautiful natural set in the world,” as Ben Ammar defined it. The Bel Paese is emerging as a hub for international cinema, mainly thanks to the tax credit, whose attractiveness has proven superior to be higher than in other European countries.
