This event, and the associated brand-new report, will explore the current state of esports in the UK and where the future of the sector lies

Esports is a growing and exciting part of the interactive entertainment sector. It has captured the interest of both professional players and casual viewers across the country. It has generated excitement and imaginative activations from brands in the worlds of games, sport and beyond. It is also viewed with increasing credibility by the wider world, with interest in esports coming from leading press, influential policy makers and even teachers looking to engage children in the classroom.

However, it can be difficult to fully appreciate the opportunity esports presents to the UK at large.

This event supports the publication of a brand-new report, produced by Esports News UK and Ukie, in conjunction with The Story Mob and YouGov.

Both the report and this event will explore the current state of esports in the UK, assessing how the sector could be developed further, balancing the need to develop the next generation of esports talent with the ambition of unlocking the full growth potential of companies operating across the industry today.

Our speakers will include –

  • An interview with Alex Sobel, MP and Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for games and esports
  • Disucssion on the key finding of the report ‘Esports in the UK: challenge and future opportunities’ with Dominc Sacco (Esports News UK) and YouGov, moderated by Sam Collins, Ukie
  • Industry panel on future opportunities for esports in the UK featuring James Dean (ESL), Hether Dower (Hotdrop), Wouter Sleijffers (Excel Esports), Neale Maker (Ubisoft) moderated by Mike Blount, The Story Mob
