Domestic WWII FPS “Warflame 14” Gains International Media Attention: Hailed as “New Challenger from the East” for Call of Duty Series

Recently, the renowned German gaming media outlet Gamestar published an article reviewing the domestic first-person shooter “Warflame 14,” praising its production quality and narrative scale as demonstrating the potential to compete with internationally acclaimed AAA titles. The article suggested that the Call of Duty series may “welcome a new challenger from the East.”

The report noted that the game’s first trailer showcased a wealth of dramatic scripted sequences, large-scale battlefield scenes, and stealth missions emphasizing atmospheric immersion. Its overall style was reminiscent of the classic single-player campaign mode of the Call of Duty series. According to official information, the game will present multiple perspectives of the War of Resistance through the eyes of seven main characters. Combat scenarios are designed to cover a variety of environments, including underwater operations, cavalry charges, close-quarters firefights on moving trains, and even aerial combat with player-controlled fighter planes.

Gamestar praised the game in its coverage, stating that based on the content revealed so far, “Warflame 14” exhibits a notably high level of technical polish. The trailer demonstrated realistic lighting, modern-grade fire and smoke effects, and fluid character animations, all of which left a strong first impression on international audiences.

The report also pointed out that the game is currently primarily targeted at Chinese-speaking players, with no plans for a fully localized version at this stage. “Warflame 14” currently supports only Chinese voiceovers, with English subtitles and in-game text provided. The official release date has yet to be announced, but players can already add the game to their wishlists on Steam.

As Chinese-made games increasingly gain recognition on the global stage, the international media attention garnered by “Warflame 14” reflects the growing competitiveness of Chinese developers in both narrative expression and technical execution.
