Blossom: The Seed of Life Goes Co-op with the “Together on Mars” Updated

The free “Together on Mars” update brings full 4-player co-op to Blossom: The Seed of Life, the solo-developed survival crafting game about terraforming a barren planet and bringing it back to life.

Solo developer Thorin (Pebbledust Games) and Pretty Soon launch “Together on Mars” today on Steam. A major free update for Blossom: The Seed of Life that introduces full 4-player online co-op.

Blossom has become the kind of deceptively small indie game that keeps surprising players with how much is inside it. YouTube and Twitch creators have often turned their first look into multi-hour series and full playthroughs, while more than 35,000 players have explored its expanding mix of terraforming, building and discovery in just five months.

The update lets players invite up to three friends and experience the entire Blossom campaign together from start to finish: exploring Mars, mining resources, building bases, driving vehicles, automating factories, discovering new life, and transforming the barren planet into a thriving ecosystem.

Blossom: The Seed of Life – Together on Mars Official Update Trailer:

On bringing co-op to Blossom, Thorin, the game’s solo developer, says:

Players have been asking for co-op since the very first dev log, but I always worried it would take away from Blossoms feeling of being alone on a vast, quiet planet. What surprised me is that co-op didnt take away any of that at all. Mars still feels huge, quiet, and isolated, but now you can experience that together.

It also creates some really funny situations.

While testing with my wife, we had a disagreement about how we should run things, and she eventually went off and built her own base of operations on a completely different part of the planet while I continued running mine. Moments like that made me realize that co-op doesnt just let you survive Mars together; it gives you completely new stories to tell.

Co-op progression is fully shared, including bases, terraforming, research, automation, and story progression, while every player keeps their own backpack, equipment, and customizable suit colors.

Importantly, existing saves are fully compatible with “Together on Mars”. Players can simply load the world they have already built and open it to friends, with no restart required. Single-player remains unchanged for those who prefer to terraform Mars alone.

“Together on Mars” is available now on Steam as a free update for all owners of Blossom: The Seed of Life. Blossom: The Seed of Life is 30% off during the Pretty Soon publisher sale until September 6.

About the game

Terraform a dead planet back to life in this open-world survival crafting game. Explore ruins, gather resources, print machines, drive modular vehicles, grow forests, biomes, and ecosystems. Create life and make it thrive with your own hands. Now, with up to 4 player co-op!

Key Features

  • Terraform Mars – Clear the fog by increasing the pressure and form ice. Melt it into water by raising the temperature. Convert Martian dust into soil, then green the planet with algae. Plant flowers and trees to generate oxygen and turn the sky blue. Grow forests and create biomes, then create life by incubating insects, birds and animals.
  • Explore a changing world – Explore an unknown planet. Travel across Mars on foot, by rover, and through the air, reaching distant regions to find resources or to simply watch the results of your terraforming efforts. Discover abandoned stations, ancient machines, and wrecked ships. Visit orbital platforms and piece together what happened to Earth and those who came before you.
  • This robot needs power – You play as Blossom, a small but capable robot built to survive where humans cannot. Managing energy is central to gameplay: power your movement, tools, and machines to stay operational in a harsh environment. Playing as a robot changes how you interact with the world. Electricity replaces food, so careful energy management becomes key to progress.
  • Craft & build a base – Gather Mars’ resources, refine materials, automate using drones, build tools, machines and structures. Unlock blueprints, upgrade your technology, and construct bases that grow alongside the planet, supporting terraforming, exploration, and survival in increasingly complex ways.
  • Take your base anywhere – Build and customize modular rovers, attach functional modules like batteries, storage, and mining lasers, and chain them into convoys. Drive across the planet, mine on the go, and create fully mobile or stationary outposts wherever exploration takes you. Your base is not tied to one place. It moves with you, enabling true planetary-scale exploration.

All this, now with up to 4-player co-op enabled!

About Pebbledust Games

Thorin is the solo developer behind Pebbledust Games, and Blossom is a project he’s been building on his own, inspired by the games he grew up with, the ones that didn’t constantly hold your hand. You had to experiment, pay attention, and slowly figure things out for yourself. He wanted to bring back that feeling of discovery, in a calm, more relaxing survival experience where the main goal is simple: bring a dead planet to life.
