The VIEW Conference 2018 has confirmed that DNEG animation director and VFX industry veteran Troy Saliba, together with DFX supervisor Aharon Bourland, will be presenting their studio’s visual effects and animation work on Marvel and Sony Pictures’ upcoming superhero feature, Venom.

Their talk, “The VFX of Venom,” joins an exciting program of keynotes and presentations scheduled for October 22-26 at the Turin, Italy conference. DNEG’s Saliba, a frequent VIEW presenter, has worked on numerous films during his 30-year career. In addition to his recently completed work on Venom, his animation supervision credits include Alice Through the Looking Glass, The Haunted Mansion, Monster House, G-Force, The Smurfs and Oz the Great and Powerful. He also worked as a senior animator on the Oscar-winning Spider-Man 2, VES Award-winning Stuart Little 2 and the Oscar-winning animated short film, The Chubbchubbs!

DNEG’s Bourland, in addition to her work on Venom, has worked on such movies as Avengers: Infinity War, Life, Baby Driver and Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. Her career in VFX began at Tippett Studio in 2004, where she worked as a TD, CG supervisor and art director on films like Hellboy, The Spiderwick Chronicles, The ‘Twilight Saga, Ted and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

In Venom, which hits theatres October 5, one of Marvel’s greatest and most complex characters takes center stage as Eddie Brock, played by Tom Hardy, becomes the host for the alien symbiote Venom. As a journalist, Eddie has been trying to take down the notorious founder of the Life Foundation, genius Carlton Drake, and that obsession ruined his career and his relationship with his girlfriend, Anne Weying. Upon investigating one of Drake’s experiments, the alien Venom merges with Eddie’s body, and he suddenly has incredible new superpowers, as well as the chance to do just about whatever he wants. Twisted, dark, unpredictable, and fueled by rage, Venom leaves Eddie wrestling to control dangerous abilities that he also finds empowering and intoxicating. As Eddie and Venom need each other to get what they’re looking for, they become more and more intertwined — where does Eddie end and Venom begin?
