The Ottawa International Animation Festival
The Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF) is one of the world’s leading animation events providing screenings, exhibits, workshops and entertainment since 1976. OIAF is an annual five-day event bringing art and industry together in a vibrant hub. This year, The Ottawa International Animation Festival will be held online during Sept 22-Oct 3, 2021This year’s festival will be here sooner than you think.
2021 Official Competition
The Official Competition is a Festival highlight, with short animated films in 8 categories, animated feature films, and VR works vying for an award. An international, six-person jury will be handing out prizes on Friday, October 1.
This year the Ottawa International Animation Festival received a total of 2528 entries from 104 different countries. Of those, 107 short films, including Animated Series, and 7 feature films were chosen for competition. There are 5 projects in the running for Best Virtual Reality (VR).
In addition, 23 films were selected in the Canadian Student Competition and 48 panorama films were chosen to represent the efforts of the Canadian, international, and student communities.
Panorama Screenings
The World Panorama and Canadian Panorama programmes feature selections of outstanding new animated short films from across Canada and around the world, in addition to a variety of new international student work shown in the World Student Panorama.
Selected from among the 2021 submissions, these films are an out-of-competition companion series to the wide range of techniques and voices found in the Official Competition.
