Paramount Animation Introduces Star Skipper Mascot, Partnership With WWE Studios For Upcoming ‘Rumble’

The piece was designed by Christopher Zibach, and produced by creative agency ATK PLN and Reel FX Creative Studios.
Paramount Animation’s president Mireille Soria told Variety that the logo has been on the agenda since she took over at the studio two years ago: “One of the goals from the very beginning was ‘Let’s do a logo.’ It took us a while, on top of our goal to make two movies a year and putting together our great team. We’ve landed on one, and I’m excited for the world to see it. You’ll recognize it as a Paramount logo, and it has its own voice, and it’s unique to the world of animation.”
While the unit’s 2019 film — Wonder Park — turned in a disappointing performance at the box office, there are greater expectations for its next release, SpongeBob Movie: It’s a Wonderful Sponge. The unit also has an ambitious slate of projects in development, including an adaptation of Laurence Yep’s book series The Tiger’s Apprentice, a Mighty Mouse cg/live-action hybrid, and a film based on the Nineties British pop group Spice Girls.
Relatedly, Paramount also announced today that it’s previously-announced monster-wrestling film Rumble will be produced in partership with WWE Studios, the entertainment arm of the wrestling corporation.
Per Deadline, the film’s cast will be headlined by Will Arnett, Terry Crews, Geraldine Viswanathan, and WWE wrestlers Becky Lynch and Roman Reigns. Other voices include Tony Danza, Stephen A. Smith, Jimmy Tatro, Ben Schwartz, and Michael Buffer.
The Hamish Grieve-directed film is being produced by Mark Bakshi and Brad Booker, with Susan Levison and Richard Lowell as executive producers for WWE Studios. Reel FX is creating the animation for the film.
