HKIFF46 ONLINESHOWCASES OVER 40 FILMS
The Hong Kong International Film Festival Society (HKIFFS) is a charitable, non-profit and non-governmental organisation dedicated to the discovery and promotion of creativity in the art and culture of film.
The Society is committed to making world cinema accessible and affordable to the public. It organizes the annual flagship the Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF) and the Hong Kong – Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF) in March and April. Another annual highlight is the Summer International Film Festival (SummerIFF) held every August. The repertory HKIFF Cine Fan Programme was launched in April 2013 with the aim to enrich and deepen the experience of Hong Kong moviegoers through a monthly programme of contemporary, retrospective and thematic showcases. The Industry Office (HKIFF Industry) was set up in 2021 to coordinate the HKIFF Society’s film industry activities. Promoting the development of non-mainstream film industry through co-production and providing support on festival strategies and overseas distribution (HKIFF Collection).
Through its annual programmes, the Society promotes international appreciation of Asian, Hong Kong and Chinese film culture; introduces world cinema to Hong Kong audiences; and continues to underline Hong Kong’s key position in the international film community.
HKIFFS’s dedication to quality and intelligent programming, its devotion to the discovery of new areas of filmmaking in Asia and China, its exceptional work for Hong Kong cinema, seminars and acclaimed publications, gives it a unique and respected international reputation that helps promote Hong Kong cinema at home and abroad.
HKIFF46 is going hybrid for the second year, featuring over 40 films through its HKIFF46 ONLINE platform from 16 August to 2 September.
Among the hot picks for online viewing are several award winners from Cannes, including FEATHERS, winner of Critic’s Week Grand Prize; OLGA, winner of Critics’ Week SACD Award; and Queer Palm winner, THE DIVIDE. Also available are THE GREAT MOVEMENT, winner of the Orizzonti Special Jury Prize at Venice, and LEONORA ADDIO, Italian master Paolo TAVIANI’s FIPRESCI Prize winner at Berlinale.
All HKIFF46 ONLINE content is exclusive to Hong Kong. Each programme will have a viewer capacity on a first-come, first-served basis and will be available for 72 hours from 00:00 on Day One to 23:59 on Day Three. Once started, each viewer will have 24 hours within this period to finish watching the programme.
A limited number of Online Pass, allowing the bearer to access the complete HKIFF46 ONLINE programme, is now available for purchase. All pass holders will receive a complimentary copy of the commemorative book: Sandra Ng, Filmmaker in Focus.
The HKIFF46 ONLINE platform (http://online.hkiff.com.hk) offers a comprehensive, one-stop ticket purchase and viewing solution. After creating an account, a patron can buy an Online Pass or tickets with a credit card and access purchased or reserved content according to the screening schedule.
