Deals Of The Week: Calm, Planet Ankama, Genius Brands

Brands with Influence will rep Genius Brands’ IPs in the UK, Calm tells a new My Little Pony bedtime story, and Planet Ankama picks up Lil Wild.

Brit agency Brands with Influence has become the exclusive UK licensing rep for Genius Brands’ whole IP portfolio, including Arnold Schwarzenegger-starrer Superhero Kindergarten and CGI series Rainbow Rangers. The new deal will see Brands with Influence  managing consumer products and retail programs in the region.

Planet Ankama

The French distributor has picked up sales rights to CG-animated kids series Lil Wild for North America, Europe and the MENA region. The 42 x 10-minute show (and a 20-minute special) is produced by Singapore’s Mediacorp and takes place in a zoo. It tracks the daily adventures of wild animals who are out of their natural element and must learn to share space with each other.

Calm

Kid and tween fans will be able to fall asleep to the dulcet sounds of My Little Pony, thanks to a new deal between Hasbro and app-maker Calm. A new My Little Pony sleep story is available now on Calm’s subscription-based sleep and meditation app, featuring Sofia Carson, who voices Princess Pipp Petals in My Little Pony: A New Generation. In the exclusive story, Pipp Petals soars amongst the twinkling stars while telling sleepy listeners about the history of Zephry Heights. This latest licensed offering follows in the wake of a Transformers sleep story that Calm dropped last month.

HwaHwa Studio

The South Korean prodco has sold The Legends of the Meoshi Monsters to pan-Asian education network Daeyko Kids TV, which operates in several countries, including China, New Malaysia, the Philippines and Indonesia. The 20-episode CGI-animated series is based on a graphic novel range created by Kyoungrim Kim and Jan Jose Borkowski, and it will start airing in late summer.
