China Digital Transformation Index Report 2022
The CCP’s 20th annual report pointed out, “Accelerate the development of the digital economy, promote the deep integration of the digital economy and the real economy, and build an internationally competitive digital industrial cluster. “With the in-depth development of a new era of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, digital transformation is no longer an “optional question”, but a” required course”. How to accelerate industrial digital transformation and release the amplification, superposition and multiplication effects of digitalization on economic development has become an issue of wide concern to the whole society.
From over 11 trillion yuan to over 45 trillion yuan, China’s digital economy has reached a new level, providing a strong driving force for economic and social development. The strong potential energy of China’s digital economy development has been fully reflected in the report.
The Digital Transformation Index Report 2022 provides a comprehensive insight and evaluation of the digital transformation of 351 cities and 18 major industries across China, with a cross-analysis of the index from one horizontal (city perspective) and one vertical (industry perspective). Among them, in terms of industry indicators, in response to the national key policies such as “cloud use number and intelligence”, this year selected three key indicators of cloud computing, artificial intelligence and agile research and development for comprehensive calculation.
The report shows that the digital transformation index continues to rise, but is also facing the pressure to slow down in growth rate. The contribution of platform driving to digital transformation is still significant, reflecting the universal value of the platform for continuing to drive ecological recovery and development. The growth potential release of cloud, AI and other digital infrastructure is accelerated, making a great contribution to the overall growth.
From the perspective of cities, Shanghai and Beijing are firmly in the first echelon, while the second tier Shenzhen and Guangzhou are relatively stable. Shenzhen keeps the third place. The index gap between the third tier cities is not big, but the ranking of the latter cities continues to change. In terms of type, second-tier cities are accelerating closer to first-tier cities, while digitalization continues to sink to smaller cities. From the regional point of view, the digital urban clusters have obvious characteristics, spreading from the east to the central and western regions, and are forming the basic plate of the digital economy.
Over the past decade, China’s digital economy has made remarkable achievements in its development, and its overall scale has ranked second in the world for many consecutive years, playing an increasingly prominent role in leading and supporting economic and social development. In the process of the development of the digital economy, the deep integration of digital technology and the real economy has become a main goal.
The report shows that the digitalization scale of the native digital industries is still leading, and at the same time, the traditional industry, led by the manufacturing industry has shown results in accelerating “digital and real-world integration”. The “integration of the digital and real worlds” is rapidly happening across the country and the seven main industries, including industry, sports, e-commerce, industrial tools, finance, retail, and regional coordinated development.
Among them, in the provinces along the Yangtze River, industrial digitization is generally high and some growth is fast, such as Shanghai, Fujian, Chongqing and Sichuan; industrial tools promote the national strategy of digitalization clustering in Gansu, Qinghai and Sichuan and
