Bungie Details Destiny 2 Armor 2.0 Update, Massive Changes Inbound

Bungie held a livestream last night and during this stream, the developer shared its plans for the upcoming Destiny 2 Armor 2.0 update which will arrive with the Shadowkeep expansion. During the livestream, Destiny 2 developers shared the details about the new system and explained how the new changes will help players create a much better Guardian in all aspects.

Energy Rating

Starting with the most important change of the brand new system which is the Energy Rating addition to all armor pieces. This rating arrives in the place of randomized armor perks. Energy Rating will now define which and how many mods can be equipped to a specific piece of armor. Each mod in Destiny 2 will now come with a specific energy requirement which will determine how much energy slots it will consume on your armor.

The maximum number of slots possible with upgrades in 10. You can then mix and match mods together to ensure that they remain within the limit and also cater to your playstyle. You will be able to choose your favorite mods for your armor pieces as long as they can be powered by the energy provided by the armor piece. If not, you will need to come with a new loadout.

The Power level system of each piece of armor, however, will remain the same in the new armor system as it is in the current system. Another thing you must keep in mind is that the energy type still matters so you a certain type of armor will only accept that same type of mods. You cannot equip mods of a different type of armor which will make things a little more complicated while keeping the energy levels in perspective as well.

Ascendant Shards

Ascendant Shards is a brand new currency system coming to Destiny 2 in the Destiny 2 Armor 2.0 update. These will be used to upgrade your armor tiers and thus increase their energy levels. You will be able to obtain them from engrams or simply head to the Gunsmith and trade your mod components for some Ascendant Shards.

Three Additional Stats

The new armor system also brings three additional stats for the armor pieces. Along with the Resilience, Recovery and Mobility stats, each armor piece will now also come with Strength, Intelligence and Discipline stats. When Shadowkeep arrives, the cap for all these stats will be increased to 100 instead of the current cap of 10. The effects of the three new stats are:

Intelligence – Affects Super Cooldowns

Strength – Affects Melee Cooldowns

Discipline – Affects Grenade Cooldowns

With these new stats in place, you will also get a bonus every time you earn 10 points which will increase a percent of your base stat. This will ensure that you have a good space of focusing on specific builds with additional bonuses making your Guardian much better in a specific role.

Increased Glimmer Cap

Keeping the view of players complaining about not having enough stock of Glimmer, the Armor 2.0 update will increase the Glimmer Cap from 100,000 to 250,000 allowing Guardians to have increased reserves for all their shopping needs.

Visual Customization Changes

With the new upgrade in place, you will be able to equip any Ornament on your armor pieces which do not affect the gameplay in any way. This will allow you to make your Guardian look exactly like you want them to look like. In addition, for added convenience, your Guardian and your Sparrow will be now visible on the same screen allowing you to modify their appearance in order to perfectly match them.

These are all the major highlights revealed by Bungie in the upcoming Armor 2.0 update for Destiny 2.

Destiny 2 Armor 2.0 update will arrive alongside Shadowkeep expansion for Destiny 2 on October 1, 2019.
