Anna and Kristoff’s Wedding Seemingly Confirmed for Frozen 3; Directors Tease in Disney+ Documentary

Wedding bells may soon be ringing for Anna and Kristoff in Frozen 3.

At the end of Frozen 2, Kristoff proposed to Anna, sparking widespread speculation that their wedding would become a key storyline in the next installment. However, Disney has remained tight-lipped about plot details for the sequel, scheduled for release on November 24, 2027.

Now, a recent Disney+ documentary, Disney+ Insider: World of Frozen, appears to have offered the first indirect confirmation. During a segment showcasing the new World of Frozen land at Disneyland Paris, Frozen 3 co-director and writer Jennifer Lee turned to an actress portraying Anna and said, “We hear there are big wedding plans happening.” Anna enthusiastically replied, “Oh, yes! I’m so excited.” Co-director Trent Correy then asked if Anna was handling most of the planning, to which she explained: “Olaf said he likes to be in charge of all the party planning in Arendelle, and he told us that him and Kristoff had been planning a really big surprise for the Snowflower Festival.”

While the exchange strongly hints that the wedding will play a central role in Frozen 3, the rest of the documentary focuses on the Paris theme park expansion, including looks at Arendelle Bay, the castle, the town of Arendelle, and an Olaf animatronic. The highly anticipated land opened on March 29, the same day the documentary premiered on Disney+.

Beyond the royal wedding, the comments from the Anna performer also suggest that Arendelle’s Snowflower Festival will likely be woven into the story of Frozen 3, along with a major surprise being planned by Kristoff and Olaf. Whether that surprise simply adds to the joyous celebration or goes awry—potentially setting up the sequel’s larger conflict—remains to be seen, echoing the coronation ceremony mishap in the first film.

The documentary also featured an actress playing Elsa alongside Anna. Idina Menzel is set to return as the voice of Elsa in the upcoming sequel. Earlier reports claimed that Menzel, Kristen Bell (Anna), and Josh Gad (Olaf) were each earning $60 million for Frozen 3 and Frozen 4, but Bell has since denied those reports, calling them inaccurate. If the wedding is indeed part of Frozen 3, Bell will likely share a new romantic song with Jonathan Groff (Kristoff), possibly joined by Menzel and Gad—along with several other new musical numbers.

With Frozen grossing $1.3 billion globally and Frozen 2 earning $1.45 billion, the franchise ranks among the highest-grossing animated film series of all time. Disney has greenlit both Frozen 3 and Frozen 4, anticipating continued commercial success, and confirmation of Anna and Kristoff’s wedding is only expected to heighten audience anticipation. Scheduled for Thanksgiving 2027, Frozen 3 follows a release window where Disney has recently dominated the box office, with Moana 2 crossing $1 billion globally and Zootopia 2 reaching $1.8 billion.

If the wedding does make it to the screen, it will mark the first on-screen wedding in the official Walt Disney Animation Studios canon in 18 years. While the 2012 short Tangled Ever After showed Rapunzel and Eugene Fitzherbert (Flynn Rider) getting married, it is not considered part of the official feature film canon. The last wedding between main characters in a Disney animated feature occurred in 2009’s The Princess and the Frog, when Tiana and Prince Naveen were wed by Mama Odie in the film’s final moments.

Since The Princess and the Frog, Walt Disney Animation Studios has shifted its focus away from the “true love” trope, exploring themes such as sisterhood (Frozen), found family (Big Hero 6 and Wreck-It Ralph), multi-generational family dynamics (Encanto), and coming-of-age journeys (Moana). Over the past decade, romantic love has taken a backseat in Disney’s animated features. Frozen 3 now appears poised to put Anna and Kristoff front and center.

Though Frozen 3 is locked for a 2027 release, it remains in relatively early production stages. Josh Gad (Olaf) revealed in late 2025 that recording had not yet begun and the cast had not heard any of the film’s songs. However, in February 2026, Gad confirmed that recording had started, praising the story as “the grandest we’ve ever done” and suggesting that its scale may be exactly why two films are needed. For fans concerned about unnecessary sequels, Gad assured that this installment will be worth the wait.

The Frozen franchise has long extended beyond the screen, spanning a critically acclaimed Broadway musical, merchandise, video games, podcasts, and immersive theme park experiences. From Frozen Ever After at Walt Disney World to Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey at Tokyo DisneySea, and the World of Frozen lands at Hong Kong Disneyland and Disneyland Paris, Arendelle remains a cornerstone of Disney Parks worldwide.

On a broader cultural level, Frozen continues to fuel conversations around representation, with ongoing speculation about whether future installments might more directly explore interpretations of Elsa’s identity that audiences have long discussed. Whatever creative direction Disney ultimately chooses, one thing is clear: the story of Arendelle is far from over. With Frozen 3, Frozen 4, and a potential royal wedding on the horizon, the next chapter is only just beginning.
