A Brand New Format with Tailor-made Participation Formulas

A new situation, a new challenge! This year, the Annecy Festival should, if the health context allows, offer a hybrid edition, 14th to 19th June, and a redesigned Market (Mifa), 15th to 18th June.

A 2021 edition that will focus on animation from the African continent (Annecy Festival is officially labelled Africa2020 Season) but will also mark the Festival’s 60th anniversary, whose celebration had been postponed for a year.

For months, the Festival and Mifa teams have been evolving with the changing pace of the pandemic situation and more than ever they are pulling out all the stops to break new ground once again this year, inaugurating Annecy 2021, the Festival’s first ever hybrid edition.

But whether it is on-site, if conditions allow, or online, Annecy is and will always be, the world’s leading animation film meeting place.

Welcoming the community, the artists by the lake, feeling the audience buzzing in the theatres and in the open-air would be our greatest joy and our finest reward!

Annecy 2021 will be a celebration. A celebration of a love story that has lasted 60 years, of animation film, of animation from the African continent and we hope of the reopening of cinema theatres. A celebration of film pure and simply!
