Milan Games Week & Cartoomics 2026 Unveils “IN MOTION” Theme, Welcoming Legendary Creators from Three Continents

Milan Games Week & Cartoomics (MGWCMX), Italy’s largest consumer-focused exhibition for video games, comics, esports and pop culture, has officially released full highlights for its 2026 edition. Centered on the theme IN MOTION, the event takes flowing water as its core symbolic element—water breaks borders, blends diverse cultures and sparks brand-new creative collisions. Hosted at Fiera Milano Rho Halls 9, 11, 13 and 15 from November 27 to 29, 2026, the show will gather five world-renowned Guests of Honor spanning Asia, North America and Europe, covering manga, animation and video game voice acting. Single and multi-day tickets are now available for purchase online.

1. Event Profile: Italy’s All-Age ACG Carnival

Co-hosted by Fiera Milano S.p.A., MGWCMX combines two landmark events: Milan Games Week dedicated to gaming and Cartoomics for comics and fandom. Launched in 2011, the annual expo attracts over 100,000 visitors each year, integrating fan entertainment with professional industry exchange. Key zones include:

  • General Gaming Area: New game demos, board game displays and a full esports arena featuring the MotoGP™ eSport Championship finals;
  • Indie Dungeon: Exclusive showcase space spotlighting emerging independent Italian game studios;
  • Comics & Pop Culture Zone: Artist meet-and-greets, cosplay contests, creative workshops and multi-stage live performances;
  • Creator Panels: Dedicated sessions for the five international celebrity guests for talks, autograph signings and interviews.

2. Star Guests from Three Continents Form a Creative Current

Creative Current from Asia | Posuka Demizu

For the first time in MGWCMX history, the official key visual is illustrated by a Japanese artist, and Posuka Demizu will make her debut appearance in Italy. She is the illustrator of global hit manga The Promised Neverland, which has sold more than 42 million copies worldwide, with the Italian version published by J-POP Manga. Her art balances tender dreaminess and subtle suspense. This year’s official artwork merges rushing tides, ancient galleons, magical treasure chests and Leonardo da Vinci’s flying machines, perfectly embodying the cross-cultural fusion spirit of the “IN MOTION” theme.

Creative Current from North America | Mark Waid, John Romita Jr, Bill Morrison

  1. Mark Waid: Making his first Italian appearance, the iconic DC Comics writer behind Kingdom Come. He redefined the stories of The Flash and Daredevil, and now reimagines the DC universe by blending classic comic heritage with contemporary storytelling.
  2. John Romita Jr: Legendary Marvel artist who designed iconic visuals for Spider-Man, X-Men, Iron Man and Thor. He co-created groundbreaking graphic novel Kick-Asswith Mark Millar.
  3. Bill Morrison: Longtime collaborator of Matt Groening on The Simpsonsand Futurama. He translates the series’ irreverent humor into sequential art, proving animation and comics share the same creative origin.

Creative Current from the UK | Angela Sant’Albano

A leading voice acting star in the gaming industry, Angela Sant’Albano voices Grace Ashcroft, the female protagonist of Capcom’s blockbuster Resident Evil Requiem. The dual-narrative storyline starring Leon and Grace has generated global buzz, and the festival will host an exclusive panel where she shares behind-the-scenes insights into character voice creation.

3. Industrial Significance: Building a Creative Link Between Fans, Brands and Creators

MGWCMX aims to reshape public perceptions of video games, highlighting their value as mediums for social connection and innovative creation. Workshops and industry conferences connect game developers, illustrators and voice actors. A dedicated official app allows attendees to collect digital badges and unlock exclusive content, blending offline physical experiences with online digital perks.
