Steam Annual Revenue Hits Record High, Surpasses $16.2 Billion in 2025 Before Year-End

According to a recent report by analysis firm Alinea Analytics, Valve’s digital game distribution platform, Steam, has generated total revenue of $16.2 billion between January and mid-November 2025, already exceeding its full-year revenue records from previous years. This figure includes revenue from paid game sales and in-game purchases in free-to-play titles. With the year-end promotional season still underway, full-year revenue is expected to climb even higher.

Steam’s revenue performance in 2025 has significantly outpaced the same period last year. By mid-November, its revenue was approximately 5.7% higher than Steam’s total revenue for the entirety of 2024. Analysts pointed out that with the ongoing Steam Autumn Sale and upcoming Winter Sale, this gap is likely to widen further.

Looking back over the past decade, Steam’s game revenue has demonstrated steady growth overall, reflecting the sustained vitality of the PC gaming market. Among these years, 2022 was the only one to see a revenue decline, with total annual revenue amounting to approximately $12 billion.

As one of the world’s largest digital game distribution platforms, Steam also brings substantial earnings to Valve. Alinea Analytics estimates that Valve has earned over $4 billion in 2025 through platform commissions and sales of its first-party games.

Steam’s continuous growth not only highlights the expansion of the global PC gaming market but also underscores the maturity and influence of the digital distribution model. As more players from various regions join Steam and participate in its global promotional ecosystem, the platform still holds significant potential for future growth.
