October’s Top Mobile Game Downloads: Block Blast Rebounds, New Titles Break Through

According to industry data platform Appmagic, the global mobile game download chart for October 2024 showed a multi-polarized trend. It is worth noting that the data does not include China’s fragmented Android market, and the rankings reflect significant shifts in user behavior as the summer effect subsides.
Here is Appmagic’s top grossing and top downloads charts.

Classic Titles Recover, Newcomers Gain Momentum
After five consecutive months of decline, the puzzle game Block Blast! by Hungry Studio rebounded to nearly 26 million downloads in October, roughly returning to pre-summer slump levels. Meanwhile, while the hype around Roblox’s summer events has cooled, the game remains a top contender thanks to the sustained popularity of features like “Campus Farming” and “Brain Battle.”
Notably, X-Clash: Dare, developed by Bingchuan Network, surged 148 places month-on-month, breaking into the chart with a remarkable 148% growth. The game, which recorded only 3.6 million downloads in September, saw explosive growth in October. Its key markets include India 29% of downloads), Indonesia 16%), and Brazil 12%). The title, previously discussed for its “Save the Doge” ad strategy and multiple gameplay adjustments, now centers on squad-based battles.
Multiple Titles Enter a Phase of Stable Growth
Although Free Fire Max experienced a slight decline in average downloads over the past six months, it gradually climbed the rankings as evergreen titles like Subway Surfers, Pizza Ready!, and Ludo King saw slower growth. These three games maintained monthly downloads in the range of 12–14 million, entering a stable phase.
Supercell’s Clash Royale continued its upward trajectory, recording approximately 12 million downloads in October—its highest monthly total since March 2017. This represents a significant leap from the roughly 3 million monthly downloads at the beginning of the year.
Niche Categories Show Potential
In the upper tier of the chart, the mahjong game Vita Mahjong maintained around 11 million monthly downloads for the third consecutive month, while the exploration game Tile Explorer consistently achieved 10–11 million downloads per month, demonstrating the sustained vitality of niche genres.
Overall, the October chart reflects a market where classic titles are regaining momentum through content updates, while new entrants are breaking through with precise marketing strategies. As the post-summer phase sets in, the competitive landscape is undergoing another reshuffle.
