Nreal Announces Expanded Support for Windows to Meet Overwhelming Demand from Hardcore Gamers
Data from Nreal shows that AR glasses are gaining mainstream adoption, with primary use for console and PC gaming, marking a strong shift in demand for gaming accessories that enhance their gameplay
Beijing, CHINA, March 22, 2023 – Nreal, the leading brand of AR glasses, announced at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2023 its forthcoming launch of Nebula for Windows, a new addition to the Nebula System that enhances the desktop gaming experience with a theater-sized screen when tethered with Nreal Air. The announcement comes after a recent survey of Nreal Air users revealed that 56.68% are using Nreal Air for console gaming, indicating the growing popularity of AR technology and its versatility in enhancing the gaming experience.
As the demand for AR technology continues to grow, Nreal has opened up the lead as the #1 AR glasses brand in 2022 and shipped a remarkable 100,000 units, setting a new industry standard for the AR market. Nreal Air’s unparalleled emphasis on wearability alongside exceptional visual quality has propelled the brand to surpass even established players like Microsoft Hololens in total shipments. Looking to build on this momentum, the forthcoming availability of Nebula for Windows will be crucial in enabling Nreal to reach a wider mainstream audience of hardcore PC gamers.
In fact, according to the same survey by Nreal, Nreal Air is being used as an essential accessory to augment their gaming experience. 68% of users are adopting Nreal Air for use as a giant screen for gaming, with 56% alone using it for console gaming. At a more granular level, the Steam Deck leads the pack with 36% of users making it their primary device to pair with Nreal Air. Playstation and Xbox use followed at 14%, with Nintendo Switch at 6.29% with the vast majority of gamers using Nreal Air to play AAA game titles.
Nreal Air Upgrades to Virtual Curved Gaming Display with Nebula for Windows Support
Nreal’s new addition to the Nebula System with Nebula for Windows offers gamers the ability to connect their Nreal Air glasses to a PC. Using this setup, users can simulate an ultrawide virtual monitor that offers a near-eye gaming experience sure to impress even the most hardcore gamers. Nreal is also presenting a live demonstration of this support at its booth at GDC.
With Nebula for Windows, gamers will enjoy an upgrade to their standard 16:9 desktop screen, allowing for a virtual curved gaming display with a 21:9 aspect ratio. This immersive gaming experience was previously only available to a select few with high-end gaming monitors, but now gamers can achieve a similar experience for a fraction of the cost with Nreal Air and its support of Nebula for Windows.
Furthermore, Nebula for Windows also comes with enhanced 3-DoF tracking capabilities, allowing gamers to bring a virtual gaming cockpit to their consoles for a more dynamic and realistic gaming experience. This feature has the potential to immerse gamers in the game world and make them feel like they are truly part of the action, without the need for expensive gaming equipment.
“At Nreal, we are thrilled to see the growing popularity of Nreal Air among the gaming community, and we are committed to providing gamers with the best possible experience. As the gaming industry continues to evolve, we believe that Nebula for Windows is a game-changer for the desktop gaming market, and we are excited to see how it will revolutionize the way gamers play,” said Peng Jin, co-founder of Nreal.
