VS Animation! Returns to Montevideo for Ventana Sur 2026;

Submissions Open for Latin American Animated Feature Films & Series

VS Animation!, the flagship animation platform of Ventana Sur, Latin America’s premier audiovisual market, is set to make its comeback to Montevideo, Uruguay, during the 2026 market edition, running from November 30 to December 4, 2026. Co-organized by Marché du Film (Cannes Film Market), ACAU (Uruguayan Film & Audiovisual Agency) and INCAA (Argentina’s National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts), the section officially launches its open call for animation pitching sessions, aiming to boost the creation, co-production and global distribution of Latin American animated content.

The official submission window for VS Animation! Pitching Sessions runs from July 31 to August 28, 2026. Latin American creators and production companies are invited to submit animated feature films and original series that are currently in development or pre-production stages. All qualified projects will receive full access to the market’s core industry resources after selection.

Selected animation projects will stand on an international pitching stage to present creative concepts, production plans and financing demands to a cross-border jury composed of global sales agents, distributors, animation studio executives and festival programmers. Beyond the pitching showcase, participants gain exclusive access to tailor-made one-on-one industry meetings, cross-regional networking mixers and international animation awards. Winning entries will unlock substantial opportunities for global circulation, co-production partnerships and worldwide commercial distribution, further elevating the international influence of Latin American animation storytelling.

Hosted across Montevideo’s landmark cultural venues including Sodre National Cultural Centre, Cinemateca Uruguaya and the historic Teatro Solís, the 2026 Ventana Sur adopts the innovative Río de la Plata cross-border market framework, alternating events between Montevideo and Buenos Aires to consolidate long-term connections within the Latin American audiovisual ecosystem.
