V-Ray for Blender Beta Update 2 improves light handling and proxy support
Chaos has released the second update to the public beta of V-Ray for Blender, adding improvements to light management, proxy support, and rendering efficiency.
The update includes the addition of a Lights list to the LightSelect render channel, providing users with better control over individual light contributions. The V-Ray Proxy import process has been fixed, and properties for proxies are now displayed in the ‘Data’ property page. Additionally, support for Alembic files in V-Ray Proxy has been introduced, expanding compatibility with external assets.
New and Modified Features
- Add a Lights list to the LightSelect render channel
- Fix V-Ray Proxy import. Show V-Ray Proxy properties in the ‘Data’ property page
- Support Alembic in V-Ray Proxy
- Add a label with the channel type to the render channel properties
- Set V-Ray render engine thread priority to ‘low’ for production renders
- Temporarily hide V-Ray Scene from the UI
- Add Firefly Removal value property field
Other improvements include the addition of a label indicating the channel type in the render channel properties and a new Firefly Removal value property field to help mitigate unwanted artifacts in renders. The update also sets the V-Ray render engine thread priority to ‘low’ for production renders, optimizing system performance during intensive rendering tasks. As part of the modifications, the V-Ray Scene feature has been temporarily removed from the UI.
