UK ANIMATION In Annecy
AN ANNECY SUCCESS STORY WITH A COLLABORATIVE EFFORT BEHIND IT

With Annecy 2022 well and truly behind us now, it’s time to review, reflect and optimistically look ahead to next year’s festival.\
After a break of two years, Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2022 took place between the 13th and the 18th of June. This year, the UK Pavilion was organised by Animation UK, with the amazing support from the BFI with National Lottery funding, DIT, Film London, Northern Ireland Screen, Screen Scotland, and Creative Wales. A truly collaborative effort to support the sector, and what a great success it was!
With 13,248 attendees, the Annecy Festival is the biggest international Animation Festival and market.
The UK stand itself was incredibly well attended. With over 250 UK delegates, we were able to host eight to ten meetings at a time and in total, facilitated approximately 70-80 meetings between companies, commissioners and buyers during the week, hosted two receptions for over 100 guests, as well as providing the venue for the Lupus reception, celebrating their 20th anniversary. We’d like to thank those who stopped by for the amazing feedback, it wouldn’t have been possible without you and our partners and supporters.
UK ANIMATION IS very much looking forward to Annecy 2023, aiming to build on this year’s success, continue our fruitful partnerships with our partners, the industry, to celebrate our members and welcome you all back to a buzzing UK stand. Until then, keep an eye on Animation UK’s upcoming activities – lots of exciting things coming up!
Creative Wales had a great week at Annecy and the Animation UK organisation was superb. Co-locating with colleagues from around the UK always brings lots of benefits, but we also felt our own branding and identify was well balanced in the overall package too. It was fantastic to meet contacts engaged in the industry at the networking events. We look forward to attending again in 2023 and beyond!
