Toei Animation Unveils Two BrandNew One Piece Theatrical Film Projects, Expanding Franchise Multi-Content Universe

During the grand fan event ONE PIECE DAY ’26 held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Toei Animation officially announced two brandnew theatrical animated features, ONE PIECE FILM GOD VALLEY and ONE PIECE FILM BAAD. Release windows have been confirmed alongside a slate of major IP announcements, marking content preparations for the 30th anniversaries of both the original manga and longrunning TV anime series.
Key Film Project Profiles
ONE PIECE FILM GOD VALLEY | Summer 2027 (Japan Theatrical Release) Marking the franchise’s firstever canon theatrical feature, this movie adapts the wellknown God Valley Incident flashback featured within the ongoing Elbaph Arc of the TV anime, timed for the 30year anniversary of Eiichiro Oda’s manga serialization (19972027). Set 38 years prior to the mainstory timeline, the God Valley Incident depicts an epic showdown on God Valley Island among the Rocks Pirates led by Rocks D. Xebec, the Roger Pirates, Marine forces and Celestial Dragons of the World Government. Following the brutal battle, Rocks D. Xebec perished and the entire island sank beneath the ocean, forming one of the most pivotal historical backstories of the One Piece world.
Unlike all previous standalone, noncanon One Piece feature films, this new title is directly integrated into the mainstory continuity. Toei Animation has not yet revealed director credits, full production crew or international release schedules; additional promotional materials are expected to roll out at future industry events.
ONE PIECE FILM BAAD | 2029 (Japan Theatrical Release) Scheduled for release in 2029 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the One Piece TV anime, this second theatrical project has so far only unveiled its title logo handdrawn by original creator Eiichiro Oda. Plot outline, canon status and creative team remain undisclosed. As a major theatrical followup to the blockbuster 2022 hit One Piece Film: Red, this title draws massive anticipation from global fan communities.

These artworks will be deployed across the TV anime, tradingcard game and wideranging merchandise lines.
Netflix also unveiled four new cast members for its liveaction One Piece Season 3: The Battle of Alabasta, arriving in 2027. Emilio Sakraya will play Koza; Omid Abtahi will portray Toto; Jamie Ward takes the role of Pell; Nabeel Khan is cast as Chaka. The third season adapts the iconic Alabasta civilwar narrative, and further casting information will be revealed at a later date.
For the longrunning animated TV series, production output has been adjusted starting in 2026, with a maximum of 26 episodes per year. The production team aims to better preserve the narrative rhythm and pacing of the original manga source material.
Toei Animation commented that the two theatrical films will synergize with TV animation, liveaction series, games and merchandise to build a comprehensive One Piece content ecosystem. Further details including directors, voice casts and international distribution arrangements will be announced in due course.
