The 12th China Licensing Expo Opened on October 16th
The 12th China Licensing Expo (CLE) that lasts for three days from October 16th to 18th is being held in Shanghai New International Expo Center. The China Licensing Expo is exclusively supported by China Licensing Federation and hosted by the China Toy & Juvenile Products Association.
With the rapid development of the brand authorization industry in China, China Licensing Exhibition has been expanding and developing after 12 years’ accumulation. Its status consolidated in industry, CLE has become the largest and most influential professional authorizing trade exhibition in Asia, with the professional audiences covering the widest range.
As is learned, the exhibition area of CLE reached 35,000 square meters this year, increasing by 52% year-on-year, and the scale of the exhibition was enlarged again. 304 companies showcased 1,285 popular authorized IP at home and abroad, covering entertainment, art, fashion, corporate brands, sports, museums and other categories of licensing, of which international brands accounted for more than 80%, and new exhibitors accounted for 47%.
International IP Giants Gathered
China Licensing Market has attracted the entry of many international IPs for its development speed and potential. At China licensing exhibition this year, a number of international IP giants have settled in, Including Warner Bros., Blizzard, and the third largest comic company in the United States – Black Horse Comics.
Enterprises like Universal Pictures, Hasbro, Turner and other companies have attended CLE many times, viewing it as an important platform to expand the Chinese market, and taking CLE as the only licensing professional exhibition they attend in Asia.
Domestic Original and New Generation IPs Appearing
With the encouragement of national policies and positive feedback from the market, domestic IPs began to pay more and more attention to the authorizing business model. More and more domestic IPs have begun to conduct authorizing layout and actively participate in the display platform of CLE.
This year’s CLE gathered domestic original IPs from noted enterprises like Tencent Video, Alpha, Wanda, Netease, and iQiYi.
There are also new generations of IP, such as TongDaoDaShu, the cosmic universe, and the twelve buildings that are popular on the Internet.
Museum IPs Emerging
Following the initiation of China Cultural Museum Licensing Exhibition Zone for the first time at CLE last year, the museum has become a feature of the CLE. Through the IP authorization and cultural developing of museums at home and abroad, more and more excellent human cultures and splendid civilizations are entering the lives of modern people.
In addition to the continued guidance and support of National Cultural Heritage Administration, the National Cultural Relics Bureau has participated in the China Authorized Exhibition, including the National Museum of China and the Summer Palace, and the British Museum, Van Gogh Museum, and France. Many museums such as the National Museum participated in the China Authorized Exhibition.
Diversification of Pavilions
There are 9 pavilions at CLE this year, including the China Cultural Museum Licensing Exhibition Area, as well as Japanese, Korean and Taiwanese Pavilions. The IP brings about anime, art, fashion, illustration, museum and other comprehensive categories. .
The scale and development potential of China Licensing Consumer Market cannot be underestimated, with various IPs conducting and expanding the licensing business in various forms.

In addition to hosting on-site activities, exhibitors from this year’s China Authorized Exhibition also launched more than 30 exciting IP presentations or conferences during the exhibition to promote the development of the industry in various ways.

As is learned, CLE this year is held simultaneously with the brand professional exhibitions of China Toy & Juvenile Products Association, including China Toys Expo, China Kids Expo, China Preschool Expo. The overall scale of the four exhibitions is 220,000 square meters while the total number of exhibitors is 2,326. It concentrates the advantages of the government, associations and industry, effectively promoting the on-site exchanges and cross-border cooperation.
