More than 800 attendees and 55 incredible animation projects from across Europe – what an honor it was to be part of CARTOON MOVIE 2025 and together shine a spotlight on the Latvian animation. Let’s take a look back!

Over three exciting days in Bordeaux, between networking, connecting, and planning future collaborations, three upcoming Latvian animation projects were pitched:
Born in the Jungle by Edmunds Jansons (Atom Art, Letko, Hausboot)
The Northern Star by Kārlis Vītols (Studija Kokles, Yabunousagi)
Karmic Knot by Signe Baumane (Studio Locomotive, My Marriage Project)

Adding to the celebration, the producers of Latvia’s Oscar-winning animation film Flow by Gints Zilbalodis (Dream Well Studio (LV), Sacrebleu Productions (FR) and Take Five (BE)) were honored with this year’s Cartoon Tribute award for European Producers of the Year!

About Cartoon Movie
CARTOON was created at the end of 1987 by the MEDIA Programme of the European Union, which began its pilot phase under the impetus of Mrs. Holde Lhoest (Head of the MEDIA Programme) and Mr. Henry Ingberg (General Director of the Ministry of the “Communauté Française de Belgique”).
CARTOON is an international non-profit association based in Brussels. CARTOON’s remit is to support the European animation industry by organising several types of events throughout the year dedicated to animation professionals.
The association was created in 1988 with the support of the MEDIA Programme of the European Union. As part of this MEDIA Programme, CARTOON organises 5 events a year, divided into 2 categories:
- Pitching & co-production events
- A training seminar for European professionals focusing on new business models in animation.
