The Melbourne International Animation Festival is a week long celebratory feast. Featuring forums and over 400 of the best recently released, historical and retrospective animation from around the world.
Held annually in the middle of the year. MIAF showcase a comprehensive line-up from award winners, outstanding industry veterans, inspiring independents, stupendous studios and those wonderful newcomers exploring their talent on screen for the very first time.
Without a doubt, MIAF is the premier animation festival of Australia. And, one of the largest festivals in the world dedicated to auteur animation.
Next year, Melbourne International Animation Festival 2025 will welcome its 25th anniversary!
We have a week (8 days) of animation goodness from around the world which holds Treasury Theatre, Melbourne (Sun 4, Sat 10, Sun 11) and The Backlot Studios, South Melbourne (Mon 5 – Fri 9) from May 4 to May 11. celebrate animation as an artform.
The entry deadline is usually January/February, and entry is FREE.
Every year we invite filmmakers from across Australia and the world to submit their latest animated films.
Applications for MIAF 2025:
All films open 28 October 2024 10:00 AM (AEDT).
All films close 16 January 2025 11:59 PM (AEDT).
There is NO FEE to enter.
