Studiocanal Debuts at CinemaCon, Unveils Paddington 4 and Diverse Slate, Highlighting Global Content Strength
European film powerhouse Studiocanal staged its first-ever presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, unveiling a robust slate of upcoming projects spanning blockbuster franchises, genre remakes, original thrillers, and literary adaptations, underscoring its global production and distribution capabilities.
Anna Marsh, CEO of Studiocanal and Chief Content Officer of Canal+ Group, officially announced that the fourth installment of the worldwide hit Paddington franchise is officially in development. The beloved family series, which has grossed more than $700 million globally, will continue its signature warm, heartfelt tone with a top-tier creative team. Following previous installments set in the UK and Peru, the new chapter is highly anticipated by audiences worldwide.
In genre filmmaking, Studiocanal is developing reboots of two 1981 classics: the werewolf horror The Howling and John Carpenter’s dystopian action classic Escape From New York, produced in partnership with The Picture Company. Under its genre label Sixth Dimension, the original thriller The Mannequin, starring Melissa Leo and directed by Sean Byrne, is set to begin principal photography this summer.
On the literary adaptation front, Studiocanal is teaming up with Blueprint Pictures to develop Matt Haig’s bestseller The Midnight Library, a fantasy story exploring parallel lives. Meanwhile, Danny Boyle’s drama Ink – centered on the history of a major British newspaper – is in post-production, featuring a star-studded cast including Jack O’Connell, Guy Pearce, and Claire Foy, and is scheduled for release in 2027.
The studio also screened footage from several completed productions, including the London-set comedy-thriller Everybody Wants To Fck Me* and the UK drama Elsinore, both slated for 2027. Star-studded projects currently in production include The Custom of the Country starring Sydney Sweeney, and Justine Triet’s psychological thriller Fonda, featuring Mia Goth and Allison Janney.
With a strategically curated slate across family franchises, genre revivals, literary adaptations, and original thrillers, Studiocanal is strengthening its position as a leading European studio while expanding its footprint in North America and global markets, delivering premium theatrical content worldwide.
