For Aunt May, Marvel wants to cast a Caucasian woman in her forties who sounds like Marisa Tomei. She is a loving aunt to Peter and is described as a fun-loving prankster, able to put a smile on the face of everyone she meets, but with a wisdom beyond her years.

Marvel wants to cast a Caucasian male in his late 40s. He is described as an enigmatic and confident but sometimes humorous mentor. He wants the best for those around him, but can also be fierce. Now, during the Marvel Studios Animation panel, they announced that Norman Osborn would be a part of it Spider-Man freshman year as a mentor to Peter taking on the role of Tony Stark in the MCU films.

Marvel is looking to cast a teenage African American to play the captain of the Bales High School football team. Described as hardworking, charming, humble and impossible to hate. Mike has a kind heart and a good head on his shoulders, but a morally challenging journey ahead of him. During Marvel Animation Studios, it was announced that Lonnie Lincoln aka Tombstone would be one of Peter’s friends. That character could be Lonnie Lincoln, especially given the morally challenging path this character will face.

Spider-Man freshman year will also include other Marvel favorites Daredevil, voiced by Charlie Cox, Doctor Strange, and countless Spider-Man villains like Doc Ock, The Rhino, and Scorpion. Some of the high schoolers who are likely part of Peter’s circle of friends could be either original characters or Marvel characters. Shin could be an adaptation of Liz Allan or Mary Jane.
