In the 1800s, somewhere in West Africa between the Ivory Coast, Mali and Guinea, French General Borgnis-Desbordes leads his umpteenth battle against the troops of Samory Touré.

Feeling on the verge of failure, he withdrew to his camp.

But Djeliba, Samory’s faithful griot, gives himself up to the General with the sole aim of telling him a story: that of the Almami.
