New Gameplay Trailer of Resident Evil: Requiem Is Coming for Gamescom 2025

Capcom’s highly anticipated survival horror title, “Resident Evil: Requiem,” made its debut at the 2025 Gamescom Opening Night Live and revealed new gameplay footage and release details during the event.
A major presence at Gamescom, new information to be unveiled
As the latest official entry in the “Resident Evil” series, “Resident Evil: Requiem” has been generating buzz since its concept trailer was first unveiled in 2024. This Gamescom will mark the first time the game showcases substantial gameplay content to a large audience. Capcom has stated that the new trailer will feature core gameplay mechanics, key characters, and plot clues, and may introduce new horror elements unique to this installment.
“Resident Evil: Requiem” is expected to continue the series’ signature third-person perspective while incorporating more dynamic environmental interactions and AI enemy behaviors to enhance the immersive horror experience. Additionally, the trailer might hint at narrative connections to previous titles in the series, such as “Resident Evil 7” and “Resident Evil Village.”
Release window may be announced at the show
The game has yet to announce a specific release date, but many speculate that Capcom will use the Gamescom opportunity to reveal a 2026 release window for “Requiem” and launch pre-orders simultaneously. There have been rumors that the game will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, and may support VR mode for certain sections.
Innovative evolution or classic return?
The “Resident Evil” series has struck a balance between innovation and nostalgia in recent years, and the development team of “Requiem” has stated that this game will “redefine the boundaries of survival horror.” The Gamescom presentation is expected to reveal the substance of this promise—whether it’s more open map designs, a more complex resource management system, or a new narrative structure—players have much to look forward to.

Foreign media VGC released a preview report on “Resident Evil 9: Requiem”, and the preview journalist Tom Regan compared it to Kojima’s cancelled game “Silent Hill P.T”. VGC stated that Capcom seems to have drawn a lot of inspiration from this cancelled horror game, as there are astonishing similarities between them, especially in the first-person mode.
