Nordic Game 2025: Good Things Ahead

Germany returns to Malmö in May, Peter Molyneux, Josef Fares, Junae Benne, Harry Kruger and more announced as speakers, and the initial time schedule for NG25 Spring released. The twenty-first edition of Nordic Game next May is already shaping up to be a blast.

On 20-23 May the games industry once again gathers in southern Sweden for the Nordic Game conference. The 21st edition, NG25 Spring, takes place in Malmö at the unique venue Slagthuset, and the organisers are at full swing preparing the biggest and best edition yet, with several hundreds of the 3500+ expected industry professionals having already secured their ticket.

Germany is back for Nordic

Once again a cornerstone of the Nordic Game experience is its extensive exhibition floor. Biggest news there is that Germany have confirmed their return to the show, this time with an even larger presence than last year. “We are truly delighted to see many of our exhibitors from previous years returning, but also to welcome new indie games, growing studios, and not least country delegations from all over the world to NG25 Spring”, says Biz Dev Director Tom Felices who expects 100+ new games presented on the show floor.

Peter Molyneux and Junae Benne in the first batch of speakers

Equally important for the right Nordic Game vibe is the speaker program, and Program Director Jacob Riis has been very busy securing some very strong names in the initial line-up. “I’m very pleased with our first announcements, and I dare to reveal that there are many more highlights in the pipeline”, he comments. “As always we aim at creating the most inclusive, diverse, and international speaker program as possible”.

The first batch of speakers includes Peter Molyneux, the legendary developer and former creative director of Microsoft Games Europe, founder and CEO of Bullfrog Productions, Lionhead Studios and now 22cans. Peter is a savvy business leader and the designer of popular and highly acclaimed games like Populous, Theme Park, Syndicate, Theme Hospital, Dungeon Keeper, Black & White and the Fable franchise. He’s received multiple Lifetime Achievement Awards from BAFTA, the GDC Awards and the Academy for the Interactive Arts and Sciences.

Additionally speaker announcements include Josef Fares and Oskar Wolontis (leads of Hazelight Studios of “It Takes Two” fame), Harry Krueger (ex-Housemarque and game director of Returnal), Junae Benne (PR and community building expert), Veronica Pazos (Lead Designer at Paradox Interactive on Crusader Kings III and more), and consultant and analyst Marie Mejerwall, who will walk the audience  through the AI combat systems she worked with at famous AAA action franchises Batman Arkham, Deus Ex and Dead Rising.

Important first-time schedule

As many Nordic Game participants are coming from outside Sweden, here’s an early peek at the NG25 Spring schedule to help you plan your trip to Sweden. If you’ve attended Nordic Game before, the most notable change compared to previous editions is our conference kick-off and show floor opening on Tuesday morning, 20 May and main event wrap-up on Thursday evening, 22 May with the Nordic Game Awards and Nordic Game Party. Friday 23 May will feature a bonus program curated by industry experts Mighty Diamonds and created with local game startups, growing studios and game development students in mind.

All NG25 Spring pass holders will be welcome to the Friday event at Slagthuset; the schedule change is primarily to accommodate our participants from outside the region looking to travel home before the weekend. Also note that additional activities, including social gatherings and networking events organised by partners and sponsors, will be added to the schedule as we get closer to our May kick-off.
