New Rumors Emerge About *Half-Life 3*: Reports Suggest Possible Spring 2026 Release, but Reliability Remains in Question

Mike Straw, editor of the well-known gaming media outlet Insider Gaming, recently spoke up again, reiterating earlier rumors regarding the imminent announcement of *Half-Life 3*. According to these reports, the highly anticipated title may be officially announced before the end of 2025, with a planned release in Spring 2026.

However, Straw himself remains cautious about the accuracy of this timeline. He stated that he has yet to verify the information through at least two independent sources. This situation may stem from a deliberate “trap” set by Valve—spreading false release dates to different employees in order to trace the source of internal leaks. A similar strategy was reportedly used during the development of Half-Life: Alyx, when Valve circulated multiple versions of release plans to identify leakers.

This speculation is not without basis. During a recent demonstration event for Valve’s Steam Machine prototype, the unusually tight security measures drew outside attention. Multiple invited journalists noted that the event was staffed with a far greater number of security personnel than usual. Industry analysis suggests that this high level of vigilance was likely not aimed at protecting hardware but rather at safeguarding core software projects under development from external scrutiny.

Notably, several industry insiders remain confident that *Half-Life 3* will be announced soon. Insiders Tyler McVicker and GabeFollower have both maintained that the game will be revealed in 2025, with no indications of any change in plans. In August of this year, data mining of *Counter-Strike 2* and Deadlock uncovered clues related to a Valve project codenamed “HLX,” widely believed to be the long-rumored *Half-Life 3*.

Shpeshal_Nick, co-founder of Xbox Era, recently hinted that if the information he received is accurate, the announcement of *Half-Life 3* could even “steal the spotlight from GTA VI in terms of hype.” While these rumors are exciting, given Valve’s well-known emphasis on project confidentiality, players may still need to be patient and wait for an official announcement.
