Netflix Upgrades Gaming Strategy with a Lineup of Major Titles

Netflix is entering a new phase in the gaming space with a major overhaul of its games business. This upgrade is led by several high-profile titles, including Red Dead Redemption, WWE 2K25, its own puzzle games, and a range of kids and party games, all playable on both mobile devices and TVs.

Red Dead Redemption is coming to mobile for the first time on December 2. This Western-themed title from Rockstar will be released as a standalone game on iOS and Android, while also being included in the Netflix membership games library. The Netflix edition additionally includes the Undead Nightmare DLC. Release dates for WWE 2K25 and Netflix’s own puzzle game have yet to be announced.

Furthermore, Netflix has launched the standalone live game show app Best Guess Live and has released several new children’s games on the service, including Lego Duplo World, Barbie Color Creations, Toca Boca Hair Salon 4, and Paw Patrol Academy.

However, the core focus of this “Netflix Games 2.0” strategy appears to be the TV gaming experience. A host of family-friendly party games are now available on the platform, such as Lego Party, Boggle Party, Party Crashers, Pictionary: Game Night, and Tetris Time Warp.

Regarding this, Netflix VP of Games Alain Tascan stated, “Starting today, you can use your phone as a controller to play games on your TV—no complicated setup required, it’s as easy as watching your favorite show. You can seamlessly switch from watching KPop Demon Hunters to playing Pictionary: Game Night, all within Netflix. For users who love gaming anytime, anywhere, we will also bring more mobile games with Netflix’s unique touch.”

Coming soon to the party game roster is Dead Man’s Party: A Knives Out Game, based on the popular mystery film series Knives Out.

Netflix VP of Games Alain Tascan had previously hinted at this new direction at the Game Developers Conference, indicating the company would focus on four main game genres: party games, kids’ games, narrative games, and mainstream titles.

Tascan further elaborated on Netflix’s gaming blueprint, including its vision to create a social gaming experience similar to Fortnite. He also emphasized Netflix’s long-term commitment to the gaming industry, expressing confidence that its 2025 game lineup will help the company finally “find its own voice” in the world of gaming.
