Marvel and Wikiwand launch new “Ultraman”
At the Tokyo comic-con on November 24, Marvel announced the partnership with Wikiwand. Marvel plans to launch a future series of “Ultraman” comics and novels, expanding Ultraman’s story in their own way and introducing new chapters in 2020 to give Ultraman fans a new experience.

C.B. Seversky, editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics, said: “As one of the most popular IP in the world, Ultraman has one of the most passionate fan base globally. Like Marvel, Ultraman has captivated generations with its compelling stories and is now more than just a TV show. Movies, toys, games, comics and many other forms will show a whole new chapter of Ultraman.”
“We are delighted to have created an engaging character and story that has been loved by fans around the world for more than 80 years, ” said Ttsukagoshi Hirotaka, CEO of Wikiwand. “I am also pleased to announce our partnership with Marvel, which has long been a hit in the entertainment industry. I am delighted to have the opportunity to create a new story and pass it on to Marvel fans and Ultraman fans around the world. ”

Since its inception in the 1960s, “Ultraman“ has been an indispensable classic in popular culture, producing over 50 years of outstanding television, film and manga productions, and continues to enjoy a worldwide reputation. The news of Ultraman’s joining the Marvel has sparked a heated debate online, with fans excited about the possibility of Ultraman joining the avengers.
Because Japan is an anime powerhouse, Marvel’s films don’t seem to be favoured in the Japanese market. The worldwide hit avengers: “Battle of the Endgame”, although it was a worldwide hit, with its total box office almost matching the “Avatar”, in Japan, it was beaten by the annual theatrical release of national animation” Detective Conan: The Fist of Blue Sapphire”. Now that Marvel is teaming up with Ultraman, it’s seen as an attempt by Marvel to attract its popularity among the Japanese anime fans.
This cooperation between the two companies is not only “Ultraman“ and Marvel cooperation, but also a collision between the two animation styles. Both present superhero theme. How is Marvel-style Ultraman different from what we’ve seen before? We’ll see.
