Magic Leap Announces the Winners of Magic Leap “Independent Creator Program”, the Construction Team VIM AEC Receiving Substantial Funding

The VR company Magic Leap is located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA, and is an AR platform similar to Microsoft HoloLens. As a mysterious and low-profile company, its main R & D direction is to project images directly through the human eye to the retina. In this way, your brain will think the images are real. The company will be a powerful competitor in the field of VR in the future.

Magic Leap recently announced the winners of Magic Leap “Independent Creator Program” funding program. This fund is aimed to help individual developers and teams launch their “Magic Leap One” projects. They provide $20,000 to $500,000 for each project, as well as support of developers, hardware and marketing .

Magic Leap announced the funding program in November 2018. The program provides financial support ranging from $20,000 to $500,000 for each creator project, as well as development, marketing and hardware support. Magic Leap shut off the application access at the end of December of the same year and eventually received more than 6,500 entries. After reviewing, the Magic Leap team selected a number of projects from education, entertainment, games, corporate and other categories, and officially released a list of winners.

Selected teams include:

The construction team VIM AEC is also among them and received a large funding from Magic Leap.

The immersive tools development team VIM AEC said on Twitter that Magic Leap announced that it had provided a large grant (amount not published) to help them continue to develop content for Magic Leap’s spatial computing platform. VIM AEC, a VIM (Virtual Information Modeling) development team, is developing the next generation of instant immersive technologies for the fields of architecture, engineering and construction, and aims to integrate the MR experience of the digital world and that of the physical world.

Skender’s CTO Stacy Scopano has played an important role in the collaboration between Magic Leap and VIM AEC. He explained, “The absence of VR/AR in architecture, engineering and construction is still kept in secret. However, it is still hard to create any experience in these areas. VIM AEC significantly improves pipeline efficiency, which makes it easier to create an instant immersive experience.”

Other selected teams will also be paired with Magic Leap’s developers’ relations team and receive one-to-one guidance and support from the developers’ relations team consistig of Magic Leap’s subject matter experts and QA testers. The guidance will also include planning, promotion and social media promotion. The selected project will be presented at the L.E.A.P. conference in 2019.
