Disney will Shoot Live-Action Version of the Classic Anime “Pinocchio”

Disney, “DreamWorks in the Animation Industry”, kept producing classic animated movies. Previously it shot Zootopia and Coco that won Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Later it shot Paddington, and now it is about to shoot the live-action version of Pinocchio! As a classic work of the 1940s, the original Pinocchio was the second cartoon produced by Disney since it released Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937. Adapted into an animated film by Disney in 1940, it is the representative fairy tale novel by the Italian writer Carlo Collodi, featuring an old woodcarver and the wooden puppet Pinocchio created by him.

Children who lie will be punished. There are stories like “Wolf Is Coming” in Ancient Greece while there is “Pinocchio” in Italy. Pinocchio is known for having a short nose that becomes longer when lying. “Pinocchio” tells the story of an old woodcarver making a wooden puppet Pinocchio, who was given life by a fairy and was told that if he could show courage, honesty and loyalty, he would become a real boy. Pinocchio embarked on a series of adventures, transforming from a wayward, mischievous, lazy, unloving puppet to a polite, hardworking, learning-dedicated, caring and kind-hearted boy. The film won two Oscars: Best Soundtrack and Best Original Song in 1941.

In recent years, Disney, a leader in animation industry, has launched live-action movies adapted from classic animations such as “Maleficent”, “Cinderella” and “Beauty and the Beast”. This remake of “Pinocchio” is affected by the live-action version of “Beauty and the Beast” directed by Bill Condon last year, which won a global box office of $1.26 billion. Disney saw its lucrative market return and therefore began to produce more live-action works.

As is learned, the live-action film “Pinocchio” will be directed by “Paddington”’s director Paul King, while Chris Weitz(“Cinderella”), Peter Hedges(“About a Boy”), and Jack Thorne(“Wonder”) will write the scripts.
