Gutsy Reveals First-Look at ‘Moominvalley’ Series
Helsinki-based Gutsy Animation has offered up an enchanting first-look at the final character designs and series artwork for its visually ambitious new CG adaptation of Tove Jansson’s beloved Moomin tales, Moominvalley (13 x 22’). The series will launch on Sky One, Sky Kids and NOW TV in Spring 2019 in the U.K., and on pubcaster YLE in Finland in February 2019.
The “drama fantasy” series utilizes a brand-new techniques in CGI in an innovative style, which combines state-of-the-art 3D with classical illustrative aesthetics that stay true to the world that fans have loved for generations.
Moominvalley’s talented production team includes Oscar-winning director Steve Box (The Curse of the Were-Rabbit), BAFTA and Emmy-winning producer John Woolley (Shaun the Sheep), Emmy-winning writing duo Mark Huckerby and Nick Ostler (Peter Rabbit, Danger Mouse), and creative director/exec producer Marika Makaroff. The original score is composed by Finnish musicians Pekka Kuusisto and Samuli Kosminen.
The star-studded English-language cast features Taron Egerton (Moomintroll), Rosamund Pike (Moominmamma), Matt Berry (Moominpappa) and Kate Winslet (Mrs. Fillyjonk), Bel Powley (Little My), Warwick Davis (Sniff), Katie Leung (Too-Ticky), Richard Ayoade (The Ghost), Jennifer Saunders (Mymble), Matt Lucas (Teety-Woo) and Alison Steadman (Emma the Stage Rat).
