“Game of the Sultan” Wins “Game of the Year” at INDIE Live Expo Awards 2025
The narrative-driven card survival RPG Game of the Sultan, developed by Double Dragon Studio and published by 2P Games, has been awarded the “Game of the Year” title at the 2025 INDIE Live Expo Awards, a prestigious celebration of outstanding independent games.
Inspired by the Arabic folktale One Thousand and One Nights, Game of the Sultan takes players on a power-driven narrative journey across various settings—from bustling market streets to royal courts and sacred sites. Players must manage characters and resources, advance events, build strength, form alliances, and gradually establish a force capable of rivaling the Sultan. Every choice can lead the story toward vastly different endings. According to the development team, the game’s script exceeds two million words in length.

“Games allow us to experience lives beyond reality, and the sensation of ‘holding power’ is one of the greatest pleasures gaming offers,” wrote the INDIE Live Expo Executive Committee in their commentary. “In this magnificent work, you will vividly taste the sweetness of power. The dictator is both your enemy and your guide—formidable, fearsome, yet fascinating. Every other character shines with their own personality, motivations, and virtues, each an exceptional individual. You may command them freely, bearing the consequences of each choice you make.”
“Now, let us immerse ourselves in this magical visual world—follow the guidance of the cards, engage in conquest, indulge in desire, lavish in extravagance, and lose yourself completely in this revolution whispered to the Sultan as an act of love.”

In acceptance remarks, the game’s producer, known as “Ancient Wind,” expressed gratitude: “Thank you to players around the world for your passion and support. You have turned what was once a solitary creative journey into a warm and joyful experience.”
