From suspenseful football tournaments and action-packed team adventures, to relaxed work on the farm, to colourful party games for the whole family, 2024 offered German players a huge variety of game highlights. This is clearly reflected in game’s official annual charts of last year’s most successful newly released games for PCs and consoles in Germany. The football simulation game ‘EA SPORTS FC 25’ (Electronic Arts) headed the list of most-purchased games for 2024 after consistently placing at or near the top of the German monthly charts since its late-September release. The first-person shooter ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’ (Activision Blizzard), which sends players on exciting single-player, cooperative and multiple-player missions, also celebrated strong success with its second-place sales ranking. The cooperative third-person shooter ‘Helldivers 2’ (Sony Interactive Entertainment), in which players protect peace in the galaxy as part of an elite unit, took third place in sales. Fourth place in the annual charts was claimed by ‘Farming Simulator 25’ (GIANTS Software), a game that puts players to work in the idyllic yet challenging setting of a farm. The list of the top 5 bestselling new games in Germany was rounded off by ‘Super Mario Party Jamboree’ (Nintendo), which challenges players to prove their skills in a range of colourful mini games with family and friends.

Information on the annual charts
The game annual charts for 2024 list the games released that year for PCs and game consoles that achieved the strongest German sales in 2024, physically and digitally, across platforms. The data is gathered by Games Sales Data (GSD), a platform operated by Video Games Europe (VGE). In Germany, GSD obtains data from publishers on sales through both retailers and digital platforms such as Nintendo eShop, PSN, Xbox Store and Steam. Digital sales of Nintendo titles from the Nintendo eShop are not included. The game ‘Black Myth: Wukong’ is also not included, as its publisher is not currently providing data to GSD.
