Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave Sets Global Launch for September 17, Exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2

During the Nintendo Direct presentation held in June 2026, Nintendo and developer Intelligent Systems officially revealed the global release date for Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, the brand-new tactical role-playing game in the iconic Fire Emblem franchise. As a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive title, the game is set to launch worldwide on September 17, 2026. A premium physical collector’s edition has also been unveiled, and pre-orders are now available via the Nintendo eShop.
As a mainline sequel to the Fire Emblem series, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave expands the universe of the fan-favorite title Fire Emblem: Three Houses. The story takes place in the Dagda Empire, a region briefly mentioned in the previous work, and centers on the grand Heroic Games held across the realm. The game features four interwoven story campaigns with distinct narratives. Players can pick one of four protagonists with unique backgrounds and aspirations to embark on their journeys, experiencing diverse storylines throughout the adventure.
The four leading characters boast distinctive personalities and life missions. Cai, a kind young boy from Ribeira Village, devotes himself to rescuing his imprisoned father. Dietrich is a master swordsman constantly seeking stronger opponents to challenge. Theodora, the queen of the Saramis Kingdom, strives to fulfill her motherland’s long-cherished dream. Leda, a talented musician, marches forward driven by a desire for revenge. Bound together by the Heroic Games, their fates intertwine, and players’ choices will greatly shape the overall progression of the plot.
In terms of gameplay, the title retains the franchise’s classic turn-based tactical combat system. Core mechanics including unit movement, damage calculation, critical hit rates, accuracy and weapon type advantages remain intact. Each protagonist is equipped with exclusive powerful abilities: Cai can unleash massive area-of-effect magical blasts, while Leda, who excels at both sword fighting and musical performance, provides valuable support for the party in battles, creating abundant possibilities for tactical combinations.
Furthermore, the game revamps and optimizes the beloved time management and deadline system. Between competitive matches, players are free to explore the capital city of Dagsion, learn new combat skills at training grounds, strengthen bonds with companions to recruit new allies, and travel outside the city to gain extra experience. The official trailer also displays clear quest deadlines, requiring players to arrange their schedules rationally and adding more depth to strategy and character development. To the delight of long-time fans, adult Sothis, a popular character from Fire Emblem: Three Houses, makes a highly anticipated return in this new installment.
Apart from the standard edition, Nintendo has launched a deluxe physical collector’s edition named the Dagdan Collection. This premium bundle includes a premium steelbook case, character art cards featuring main heroes and other in-game roles, a full map of the land of Dagda, an official artbook, and a physical copy of the game, making it a must-have collectible for devoted fans of the series.
September 2026 is packed with major game releases across the industry, and Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave will compete with numerous blockbuster titles. As another flagship first-party RPG for Nintendo Switch 2, the game inherits the charm of the classic IP while innovating with multi-threaded storytelling and polished tactical gameplay. It enriches the software lineup of the new console and has drawn huge anticipation from tactical RPG enthusiasts and loyal Fire Emblem fans around the globe.
