Espire 1: VR Operative’s addition to the Meta Quest+
Espire 1: VR Operative Sneaks Onto Meta Quest+ Service with Free ‘New Recruits’ Update
Publisher Tripwire Presents and developer Digital Lode today announced Espire 1: VR Operative’s addition to the Meta Quest+ subscription service available for Meta Quest (Quest, Quest 2, and Quest 3) VR headsets. Subscribers can download the award-winning VR stealth experience as part of the expanded library of VR experiences available through the service, and enjoy the latest free ‘New Recruits’ update that brought a host of improvements to Meta Quest headsets on Feb. 28. Stay tuned to the Espire 1 social media channels to find out when the ‘New Recruits’ update will be available on other platforms.
The Espire 1 ‘New Recruits’ update, patch 1.11, available now on Meta Quest headsets and available on other VR platforms later in March includes:
Improved Quest Visuals and Performance: The visual quality and performance across Meta Quest Pro, Quest 2, and Quest 3 platforms has been enhanced, with Quest 3 owners seeing the most significant improvements.
Gameplay Enhancements and Polish: Stealth gameplay has been improved with a focus on interactions involving security cameras, mounted turrets, and tripmines. Every level in the game has received a polish pass for additional improvements.
New and Remixed Audio: Enemy soldiers will be more chatty following this update thanks to the addition of a significant number of dialogue options, many of which have never been heard. A remix of the game’s main theme by composer Christopher Lisati has been added and will play upon campaign completion in normal or hard difficulty.
Leaderboard Fixes: Responding to reporting from the speedrunning community, a series of exploits allowing players to achieve seemingly impossible challenge completion times have been addressed.
VR Platform Support Update: This update is not available for Meta Quest 1 owners, who will continue to have access to version 1.9 without change. The update on non-Quest platforms will include all the content and visual improvements currently available to Quest users, and will also include changes allowing Digital Lode to support additional VR devices in the future.
Espire 1: VR Operative has set the new gold standard for the stealth genre in virtual reality since its launch, delivering gameplay mechanics for the stealth and action genres that have yet to be explored in the space. Players are charged with the role of an “Espire Agent” and use cutting-edge Virtual Reality hardware to remote-operate the Espire model 1 drone while completing classified missions and challenges.
Espire 1: VR Operative is available for all major VR platforms, including Steam, Meta Quest (Quest, Quest 2, and Quest 3), Oculus Rift, Oculus Rift-S, HTC Vive / Vive Pro, Valve Index, Windows Mixed Reality, and PlayStation®VR for $19.99 USD.
