Classic Movie Turned Video Game Turbo Kid announces August 5th launch on Nintendo Switch!
RELEASE DATE ANNOUNCEMENT: Cult-Classic Movie Turned Video Game Turbo Kid announces August 5th launch on Nintendo Switch!

Outerminds Inc., the minds behind PewDiePie’s: Legend of the Brofist, Tuber Simulator, Pixelings and cult-classic-movie-turned-video-game Turbo Kid, have announced an August 5th release date for the Nintendo Switch edition of Turbo Kid.
Set in a retro-futuristic nightmare vision of the 80s, Turbo Kid is set in a world where humanity has broken down, water is scarce, tyrannical warlords roam the Wasteland, and bikes are the steeds of choice for would-be saviors. Massive worlds crammed full of surprises and danger await as you upgrade and build, blasting, slashing, running, jumping, crawling, and yes, riding your way to victory while immersing you in an original soundtrack provided by the masters of electronica, Le Matos!

About Turbo Kid
Turbo Kid is a singleplayer metroidvania adventure with insane weapons, skills, and pixel gore where you ride your BMX and blast your enemies as you discover the secrets of the Wasteland. Created as a continuation of the 2015 Sci-fi/Action cult-classic of the same name, fans of the movie were aching for a Turbo Kid video game adaptation. Heeding the call, Outerminds launched a Kickstarter campaign in 2021 and successfully funded their campaign within less than 24 hours. Turbo Kid launched on PC in April of 2024.
Key Features
Pedal. Slash. Explode. Repeat. – Rediscover the Metroidvania you should have grown up with. Blaze your trail through a mutant-infested wasteland, upgrade your arsenal of absurdly deadly weapons, and leave a trail of pixelated guts in your wake—all from the seat of your trusty BMX.
BMX Combat – Who needs a horse when you have a bike with attitude? Call your BMX anytime to boost through maps, unlock shortcuts, smash enemies, or just pull sick tricks. It’s the first true Metroidvania where two wheels matter (no need to fact-check that).
Slash, Shoot, Splat – Machetes? Of course. Turbo Glove™? Absolutely. From electric blasts to saw blades, your toolkit is overflowing with over-the-top destruction. Rip through enemies with style and turn every screen into a spray of beautifully deranged pixel gore.
Freedom to Explore, Freedom to Wreck – Set just after the events of the film, forge your path through a twisted world filled with bizarre characters and unexpected choices. Who you help—or hurt—will shape your journey across multiple playthroughs.
All Killer, No Filler – Love lore? It’s here. Hate it? Skip it. We built Turbo Kid with pure gameplay in mind: no unskippable cutscenes, no walls of text—just fast, fluid action and flexible storytelling that works whether you’re exploring or speedrunning.
Turbo Kid Switch Edition will launch on August 5th 2025 and is available to play on Steam right now.
About Outerminds Inc.
Outerminds is an indie video game developing studio located in Montreal Canada founded in 2014 by Sylvain Savard, Nicolas Brunet-Messier, Alexandre Caron and Guiz de Pessemier. After creating our first game Tadpole Tap, we entered a game jam organized by YouTube Celebrity PewDiePie and decided to create a game starring the YouTuber himself. He quickly reached out and asked that we expand on it. The result – PewDiePie: Legend of the Brofist – would be the start of a long collaboration with PewDiePie. Since then, Outerminds has made 3 more games including 2 with PewDiePie.
